Straight Sided Wooden Bowl - Elm by Such and Such

The grain and rich colour of this handmade Elm bowl are fantastic. A unique one-off piece, the wooden bowl is great as a place for keeping your wallet, phone and other everyday carry items, or for storing trinkets or jewellery, alternatively it can be used as a fruit bowl or as a decorative display bowl.

A simple shape, the bowl features straight sided walls 0.5cm thick and measures 20.7cm in diameter by 7.7cm in height. The Elm bowl was turned by hand on a lathe and finely sanded to provide an extremely smooth tactile finish. The bowl is then coated in a food-safe Danish Oil, made up predominantly of Tung Oil, to help protect the wood.

An example of handmade British craftsmanship, this special piece will look fantastic on a side cabinet, shelving, tabletop or kitchen side, whether in a contemporary or traditional home. It will also make an ideal gift. The bowl was designed and handmade by Alastair Matthews, in my workshop near Saffron Walden in Essex.
