The unglazed matt finish combined with the beautiful dark grey ceramic colour and simple shape of the light shade makes for an understated and timeless ceramic pendant light shade. Each shade features a hole in the top for the lamp fitting to be fed through, please note the lamp fitting is not included in or supplied with the shade. This is a ceramic shade which can be attached to an existing light fixture. These fantastic light shades look great in various different rooms and locations. You may choose to hang them in a cluster or a row above a kitchen island or table, or along a corridor. They also look great when used on low hanging bedside lights. Handmade in England, each pendant shade is individually slipcast from vitrified earthenware and polished to create that fantastic smooth pebbly finish. The clay is fired to a high temperature until it is vitrified and no longer porous, giving it a stone like quality. Part of our lighting collection the ceramic pendants are simply stunning. Designed by Sue Pryke each pendant is individually made and so there will be slight changes in each piece and slight colour variations, which is indicative of the material and the hand made processes. Sue Pryke is a British homeware designer who has designed her own collection after having had a successful career which has involved collaborations with the likes of Virgin Atlantic, John Lewis and Marks and Spencer's.

Sue Pryke is a British homeware designer, who started her journey into ceramics at a small pottery in Lincolnshire. After graduation Sue's first job was at Wedgwood as a shape designer, guided by the design team she was taught to understand the breadth of ceramic form. Since then Sue has had a successful career which has involved collaborations with a wide range of clients, from Virgin Atlantic to High Street retailers such as John Lewis, Marks and Spencer's and prestigious manufacturers such as Wedgwood and Royal Doulton.
Sue is inspired by the everyday and the ordinary; material qualities, textures and the interaction we have with objects. Recently Sue wanted to create her own collection of objects that sit comfortably in the home, that aren't awkward, audacious or tricky to use or care for, but are familiar, have fluency and sit effortlessly. To bring this range together she collaborated with small factories and studios in England working with traditional craftsmanship, materials and techniques to make high quality products made by hand.
